Originally the residents of Broeck Pointe Subdivision were bound together in a Broeck Pointe Association which was merely a common voice without official capacity insofar as legalities or government bodies were concerned.
On February 6, 1980, Broeck Pointe officially became a sixth class city (now referred to as Home Rule). As such, it is now able to levy taxes for the upkeep and maintenance of streets and sewers; draw up a yearly budget; collect and disburse city monies; negotiate contracts for service such as garbage collection and snow removal; to exist as a governmental entity and as such be eligible for Federal monies; and to henceforth be inaccessible of any possible annexation by another community.
